Perfectly imperfect: My Prayer Flags are made from upcycled teabags that have been boiled for sterilization but still retain traces of tea stain, then batiked and marked. Each string of five flags is an original piece of art, and as such no two are alike. Imperfections such as small holes, uneven or torn edges, and spatter are intrinsic to the process. Being made from teabags, they are surprisingly strong yet still delicate and should be handled with care.

Prayer Flags are hung to promote peace, compassion, strength, and vision. Intended to waft and flutter as even the slightest breeze passes over the surface of the flags, thus the air is blessed, and the prayers of the flags become an integral part of our universe.

Each Prayer Flag measures approximately 3 1/2” by 5” (including its border of gilded momi paper) and five are strung on a hand-dyed silk cord measuring 36”. Flags may be hung to float in front of a window for maximum transparency, anywhere they might benefit from a passing breeze, or simply on the wall as you would any piece of decorative art. Conducive to meditation, they add dimension to an altar or shrine.
