Photo encaustic is a mixed-media art form. My own process begins by shooting a photograph of something I love—in this case, a pair of vintage cups and saucers by Russel Wright, an American industrial designer. Produced by the Steubenville Pottery Company from 1939 to 1959, his now iconic "American Modern" dinnerware line revolutionized mid-century tables with mix-and-match earthy pastel colors and fluid, organic, asymmetrical shapes meant to fit comfortably in the hand.
